


Although short, the films address complex topics and use comedy genre to translate unfamiliar concepts to audiences. This project is a collaboration among senior-level students who produce films on Leading with Emotional Intelligence where they integrate leadership theories with emotional intelligence concepts. Ozcelik pursues an arts-based pedagogy to create high-impact learning practices where students transform sensory experience into knowledge. If you are a scholarship recipient, you may be called upon to render special service (as a participant in particular organizations or ensembles, as a piano accompanist, etc.) as designated by the school director. You must register for a major ensemble each semester of residence. (If the student’s degree program is the BA in Music or the BM in Performance, the Director will designate a Coordinator in addition to the applied instructors to participate in the review of the petition.) Approval of this declaration requires the unanimous support of both applied instructors and the coordinator of the student’s degree program. This petition may be made only after a minimum of two successful semesters of applied study on both performance media. In extraordinary circumstances in which a student is highly proficient on both performance media, the student may petition to the Director of the School of Music to declare a double principal. If the audition on the secondary medium is acceptable, the student will be permitted to study both principal and secondary media (pending studio availability) with the understanding that the initial designation of the principal medium and the secondary medium is permanent. The student must audition and be accepted on the principal medium and must also audition on the secondary medium. In rare cases in which a student is proficient in two different performance media, it is possible to pursue applied study on the second medium. Proficiency levels in your principal performance medium are awarded at juries, which are usually given at the end of each semester. You are required to take applied lessons on your principal performance medium each semester in residence. Music education majors must satisfy additional proficiencies. In addition to fulfilling the proficiency level requirement in piano indicated in the curriculum, you are required to demonstrate proficiency in keyboard harmony and sightreading by passing a special examination.

You may elect to take additional courses, lengthening the time spent in your degree program.īefore graduation, you must satisfy a proficiency level (specified for each curriculum) in your principal performance area and in piano.
